Good afternoon everyone and welcome to BTM coverage of the British Moto GP from Silverstone! @Ugster1 with you, hoping for a race as entertaining as the one in Brno a couple of weeks ago. Race starts at 3:30pm UK time - 30 minutes or so away.

It was, of course, victory for Cal Crutchlow in Brno, and he's continued where he left off - has taken pole position here by a second.

Other British news - Bradley Smith is missing the GP due to injury - Alex Lowes steps in for him.

The latest championship standings: Marquez - 197 points Rossi - 144 Lorenzo - 138 Pedrosa - 109 Vinales - 100.

It's overcast at Silverstone, but doesn't seem to be any rain about at the moment...

Our grid for today (Crutchlow on pole): Crutchlow, Rossi, Vinales Pedrosa, Marquez, Laverty Redding, Iannone, Lorenzo Dovi, Espargaro (A), Miller Baz, Petrucci, Espargaro (P) Lowes, Bradl, Barbera Bautista, Hernandez, Rabat.

Grid clearing after the usual interviews. Crutchlow seemed more relaxed and happy (ish) to chat than when he isn't on pole...

20 laps in this one, 73 miles, and they're on the warm up lap. Tyres may well be a factor here - not as much as at Brno in the wet, of course. Start imminent...

WE'RE OFF! Vinales gets into the lead after a couple of corners, but there's a big crash, lots of debris...and indeed, there's the red flag.

Baz and Pol Espargaro down, Esparagaro being carried off, Baz still down. Bikes a mess, riders now coming into the pits. Fingers crossed for a bit...
