F1: Review of the Season

F1

ByTheMinF1

The F1 season is over, and it went right down to the final race and final lap, with Nico Rosberg taking the crown. We asked our F1 writers for their views on the season just passed, so without further to do, let's find out what they thought...

Question 1 - Who was your driver of the season?

@shash3011 - Nico Rosberg. Because he's the world champion ! Showed up every race, did what he needed to and was able to deal with almost everything thrown at him. The pace he managed to get out of the medium compounds this season was unrivalled and went a long way in aiding him to some of his wins.

@a_buckmaster - Rio Haryanto! Joking! Probably Daniel Ricciardo. Solid driver, fast, and competed with the Mercs. I could have said Max Verstappen, but he doesn’t have the experience I feel like he has to be on Ricciardo’s level.

@grahamterris - In any other year this would/should go to Max Verstappen, he's phenomenal and is absolutely the best there is on the brakes; the true mark of an F1 star. However, and despite him having the best car, I have to hand this to Nico Rosberg. To come out on top, with Lewis Hamilton throwing everything at him, showed serious mental strength.

There were also weekends where he was untouchable, Baku & Singapore spring to mind. World Champion and my driver of the year - he's come a long way from the "Britney" days.

@sportypigF1 - Nico Rosberg. Since Hamilton won his third Championship in Austin in 2015, Rosberg has been in the top five in every race except the infamous double Mercedes retirement in Spain and his 7th place at Monaco this year. A worthy champion and proof that consistency wins championships.

@nw_1711 Verstappen because he went from Toro Rosso in the middle of the grid to Red Bull and the front. And because of his drive in Brazil...

Question 2 - What in your opinion was the race of the season?

@shash3011 - Brazil. Despite the continual rain delays, some brilliant efforts from all the drivers & mechs to complete the race. Some breathtaking wheel-to-wheel duels too. And two wet-driving master-classes from Hamilton & Verstappen.
