US Open: Round 2

Golf

Ahoy polloi, I'm @T2Va, here to bring you the action as Beef Johnston and a few other people compete in the US Open in Steve Stricker's backyard. Current leaders are Paul Casey, who has followed a snowman with an incredible run of birdies, and Rickie Fowler, who won't start his second round until 19:36 in your British time (1:36pm in Wisconsin). Leaderboard!

After yesterday's low scoring, the USGA has tucked more pins and let the greens dry out, but there are still birdies to be had. Fox is currently showing a feature on Andy North, but I'll report on 21st-century golf eventually.

One thing I can report is that Rory McIlroy is going to miss the cut by a mile, as he is keeping company with somewhat less-known names at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Xander Schauffle has come from out of nowhere to be in or around the lead and pars 11 to stay -6 and one back.

Si Woo Kim misses a short one for birdie at the par-5 7th, and he also stays -6.

US TV commentary is currently led by Curtis Strange and Darren Clarke, so you can imagine the warm fuzzies.

Adam Hadwin birdies the par-5 14th to move to -4. And Stewart Cink holes from Minnesota on the third and gets to -2.

Bernd Wiesberger just misses birdie at 12 and stays -3.

Casey just misses a 20-footer for birdie on 5 (his 14th) and stays tied with Fowler at -7.

My boy Beeeeef is on the 9th tee. 153 yards but playing very tough. Beef hits the middle of the green but it rolls well off. Clarke and Strange agree the hole is not playing fairly as it slopes away and at an angle from the tee.
