#100MomentsIn100Days: USA v USSR - 3 Seconds of Chaos

Olympics

ByTheMinRio2016

You can catch those crazy closing moments here. Hope you enjoyed our re-living of the event. Thanks for reading.

The USA never collected their silver medals and to this day have never accepted them. They would not meet the Soviet Union again until 1988 when they lost in the semi-final. 4 years after that the entrance of professional athletes saw the Dream Team re-assert US dominance on the basketball court.

The result would go to a protest and 14 hours after the final (or at least the 3rd final) siren the Soviet Union were announced as the Olympic Champions.

The ecstasy and the agony in three chaotic seconds!!

But that is it. The US can complain all they want. This game will be dissected for all time but the Soviet Union are the Olympic Champions.

Incredible scenes a the Soviets mob Belov. This is the most ridiculous ending to any sporting event I have ever seen. The USA are at the scorers bench protesting, but I have no idea what the hell is going on.

THE SOVIET UNION WIN!!! THE USA HAVE LOST IN OLYMPIC BASKETBALL FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER USA 50 USSR 51 - ITS ALL OVER

AND THEY FIND HIM!! AND HE CATCHES IT!! AND HE SINKS THE BUCKET!!

So here we go again!! The Soviets inbound and go long looking for Alexander Belov.

It looks like the Officials then messed up by allowing the Soviets to inbound the ball before the clock had been reset, and that is why there were 50 seconds showing. So we are going back to three seconds left. The Soviets have a second chance to produce a miracle in Munich
