Royal Ascot: Day 5

Afternoon all! Welcome to BTM's coverage of Day 5 of Royal Ascot. Lee Roberts (@leeroberts_82) here to bring you what happens, as it happens. Six races of top quality horse racing, and the added allure Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori going head to head for top jockey of the meeting.

It's a cloudy day, but according to the BBC we don't expect any more rain (click on the image for the hourly forecast). On that note, the going is currently GOOD TO SOFT on both the round and straight courses.

The Queen is currently doing her last lap of the course in the Royal Procession, so while we wait for Her Majesty to finish her waving, what have we got in store this afternoon. It is absolutely packed today by the way, there will be plenty of champers being spilled later, win or lose.

Here's the card: 2.30 Chesham Stakes (Listed) Class 1, 7f 3.05 Wolferton Handicap (Listed) (Class 1) 1m 2f 3.40 Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) 1m 4f 4.20 Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Group 1) (Class 1) 6f 5.00 Wokingham Stakes (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) 6f 5.35 Queen Alexandra Stakes (Conditions Race) (Class 2) 2m 5f 159y

So, we have a great opener in store here. Two of Frankel's sons competing against the highly fancied Churchill.

Hot money coming in for Churchill, which has now shortened from 3/1 earlier in the week to odds on at 10/11 at the moment. Cunco is the second favourite for John Gosden, the Frankel foal with the best chance of overhauling the favourite. Frankuus and Aiming For Rio below those.

I've personally backed Cunco here, as I don't see much value in Churchill now he's odds on. He ran for third at the Curragh in his outing, but with the better ground I'd rather take a chance on Cunco. They are going down to the start, so we are nearly good to go for the opening race on the final day of Royal Ascot.

Non Runners in this one are: 4 Devils Bridge 13 Walter Raleigh

Ryan Moore is on board Churchill, so he will hope to go ahead of Frankie Dettori in the race to be top jockey, who rides the 16/1 shot Magillen.

Cunco was a bit green on the way down. Clearly the inexperience showing as he pulled hard. Now a bit more relaxed as they start to go in.
