Michael Van Gerwen

Phil Taylor

Good evening everyone! Welcome to BTM coverage of the World Matchplay Darts final between Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor - Taylor looking for his 16th (SIXTEENTH) win here.

Only the one win for MVG, but that was last year so he's the reigning champ. @Ugster1 to bring you all the action. None of that yet, build up taking place, so you're not missing anything...

van Gerwen hasn't had too much difficulty on his route to the final - 10-0 against Jamie Caven, then 11-3 against Kyle Anderson. Beat Chisnall 16-9 in the quarters and Lewis 17-9 in the semi.

Bit trickier for Taylor, from the very first game - a 10-8 victory over Robbie Green. Little easier against Mensur Suljovic - 11-5 - but then a close one against Mervyn King, 16-14. Less trouble with Anderson in the semi final - a 17-8 win.

First to 18 tonight. Action not far away - Phil's out first, seems to be the crowd favourite.

Here we go then. It's Taylor to throw first - game on!

Leg 1: First 180 of the match goes to Taylor, his 35th of the tournament. Well ahead, leaves d20 for the leg...no, single 20, but has three more if he needs them at d10 - second one finds the target.

Leg 2: MVG doesn't quite look at the races yet, and Taylor had an outside chance of a break with 138. Can't hit the second dart though, and van Gerwen holds with 70.

Leg 3: Taylor looking the better player in the very early stages - another 140 leaves 121, sets up 32 with MVG a way behind - 180 gets him back, and then Taylor can't hit the 32! 77 steals the leg for MVG.
