Swimming: James Guy goes for Gold

Here's the schedule for the next couple of hours:

Hello everyone! We've got some late night/early morning/evening (delete as appropriate) swimming about to get underway in Rio. It's @hannakin__ here into the small hours!

First up is the women's 200m Freestyle Semi-Finals. Some notable names in the outside lanes as the first swimmers walk out, including Missy Franklin and Bronte Barratt. Australia's Emma Mckeon in the centre

We're underway in the first semi-final, and it's Mckeon out fastest in the first 50m, Missy Franklin well back at the first turn.

It's the Frenchwoman Bonnet in the lead at the 100m followed by the two Aussies.

The charge comes at the last 50m and it's Shen from China who takes it, closely followed by Mckeon in second and Bonnet in 3rd place.

Importantly and quite surprisingly, Missy Franklin has come in last and bar an absolute miracle will not be racing in the final. A complete turnaround from her strong London 2012 where she won four gold medals.

Here comes the second semi-final and it's got some huge names... Fastest qualifier is the incredible Katie Ledecky, also in the middle lanes is yesterday's gold medallist Sarah Sjostrom, and the WR holder in this event Federica Pellegrini. This will be fast.

We're off, all pretty bunched up at the first turn with Pellegrini in the lead, still no one ready to make a move as we come down to the 100m point.

Sjostrom, Ledecky and Pellegrini starting to move ahead no, Pellegrini especially known as a strong finisher.
