Swimming: James Guy goes for Gold

Here's the schedule for the next couple of hours:

So unlucky for James Guy, he's missed out on a medal by a few hundredths of a second.

Up next is the Women's 100m Backstroke Final, plenty of big names in this one too:

Katinka Hosszu goes in lane 5, she's already broken a world record today, what has she got in store for us tonight? Aussies Emily Seebohm and Maddie Wilson will also be challenging.

Emily Seebohm first at the turn followed by Kathleen Baker, Hosszu starting to come back in the last 50m.

Hosszu takes it! She absolutely stormed down the final length. Silver goes to Kathleen Baker and it looks like a joint 3rd place between China's Fu and Canadian Kylie Masse.

The two Australian's have finished in 7th and 8th respectively to everyone's surprise. Seebohm heads straight for the exit door after a horrific last 50m sees her tumble down the places.

Now for the Men's 100m Backstroke Final, plenty of potential winners here too:

The USA has a fantastic record in this race and American Ryan Murphy posted the fastest qualifying time for this final. Plummer, LaCourt and Larkin also looking to get the gold.

Ryan Murphy goes out fastest down the first 50m but Mitch Larkin is first at the turn and Murphy gets back ahead on the way back down...

It's Murphy who takes it with a new Olympic Record of 51.97, a surprise silver for Xu of China after Mitch Larkin faded badly down the final 25m.
