NFL Week 1 Preview

Evening/Afternoon/Morning. NFL is back tonight, and here we present our better-late-than-never preview to the Week 1 action. Never shy of sticking the old neck on the line, there will also be a pick for the winner (straight up, none of that spread complication).

We've also got a Pickem group going on Yahoo! Feel free to join in and show us how it's done, details after the picks. Win this gig for next year. *Amzingly Yahoo! are still a thing......

Carolina @ Denver (Thursday night) The "Kickoff Classic" is a SuperBowl L rematch. The Bronco's go in with untried Trevor Siemian at QB against one of the top defences in the game. They'll rely on that to get them short fields. Panthers return largely intact from last years superb run. Keeping Cam on his feet and replacing CB Josh Norman the priorities for them. BtM Pick: Carolina

The Sunday afternoon slate next: Tampa Bay @ Atlanta If the Buccanneers are to make the forward steps the promise of a high quality rookie season from Jameis Winston showed, they'll need to start winning on the road. Matt Ryan needs a bounce back year for Atlanta, he should make an early statement here. BtM Pick: Atlanta

Minnesota @ Tennessee A couple of sides with question marks hanging over them. How quickly will Sam Bradford settle in at the Vikings? He'll be helped by having Adrian Peterson beside him. As for the Titans, can they improve under Mike Mularkey? A man whose 2-7 record as interim HC last season was enough to get him the job this year. BtM Pick: Minnesota

San Diego @ Kansas City The Chiefs just might be favourites for the AFC West. A very solid defence, a QB who doesn't make mistakes, punishing ground game. San Diego went 4-12 last year, although a lot of those losses were by a score or less. Philip Rivers will keep them in games. It just won't be enough this week. BtM Pick: Kansas City

Oakland @ New Orleans The Raiders are another side who will want to make the step to the next level this year. Winning on the road will be a target and they have the weapons. The Saints are boosted by Drew Brees signing a new contract this week, but are a team on the down slope. They remain dangerous and have the capacity to turn games into shoot outs. This could be one. BtM Pick: New Orleans

Cincinnati @ NY Jets The Bengals remain a side with explosive offensive weapons, Dalton to Green a highlight. They go up against the Jets strength , a formidable front 7 and a solid secondary. If the Jets get early 2015 Fitzpatrick, they are in the game. If not, the Bengal D is good enough to take Marshall and Decker away. Matt Forte will need to be the difference. BtM Pick: Cincinnati

Cleveland @ Philadelphia The Browns have burned down the house and gone with a host of young possibles. They can't get a lot worse than what's gone before. For the Eagles, it's about the QB. Having traded away Sam Bradford, rookie Carson Wentz has been handed the keys to the Lincoln. There should be enough skill elsewhere on the field this week to get the win. BtM Pick: Philadelphia

Green Bay @ Jacksonville Aaron Rodgers and the Packers get their receivers back, after half of 2015 was spent slotting in any healthy body they could find, and with Eddie Lacy barrelling over and through people they will put up points. For the Jags, there is little doubt they will put up points too. Stopping them being scored is likely to be the issue. BtM Pick: Green Bay
