Grand Prix

Good evening and welcome to live commentary of 4 second round games from the World Grand Prix. I'm @belmontrebel and I'll be doing my best to bring you the atmosphere of the City West through your computer/phone/tablet. First up tonight we have Terry Jenkins facing the Dutchman Benito Van De Pas. Jenkins conquered twice champion James Wade in the first round whilst Big Ben saw off Gerwyn Price

The raging bull made the final in consecutive years during his heyday in 2006 and 2007 whereas Benito is making only his second appearance after losing to Kim Huybrechts in the first round last year.

On the subject of Van De Pas. What does anyone make of the controversial incident during his game with Kevin Painter last week? I'm quite sure it's not endeared the Big man to the darting public. SkyBet make Benny the favorite for this game interestingly.....

If you haven't seen it, this is the link

So, we're away. Jenkins to throw first. First to 3 sets now...

Jenkins starts on 120, hits a 140 and then finishes 156 to get off to an absolute flyer!!!

A slightly less emphatic leg but very solid from Terry who breaks throw to double his lead. Misses his first 3 to start the next leg though....

Players will be thinking that the draw is wide open now having seen a certain Mr Taylor's demise last night. He was far from the only big name to fall though with both Michael Smith and the usually very reliable Peter Wright following reigning champion Robert Thornton out.

Great stuff this. Big Ben breaks back. 2-1 Jenkins... first set.

Benito wired the bull for a 170 out, Jenkins then went for tops-tops requiring 80 with two darts but missed the second and Van De Pas tidied up,
