My Golf Life - Days 26 to 34 (28th Jan to 6th Feb 2017)

ByTheMinute Create A Story

Hi, I am @robertscross and welcome to Days 26 to 34 of My Golf Life 2017 I think about golf every day, without fail. Maybe not daily but hourly or even (no pun intended) “ByTheMinute” I am a golf junkie. I can’t help it. If you’ve missed days 1- 25 then have a little look here

Now, with one month complete and work commitments building up, we've decided to go weekly on this blog. Rather than giving more fillers than the Walking Dead, every Monday I'll be coming at you with My Golf Life - weekly but still broken down into an easy to read diary format ! So, whats been happening in the last 10 days .........

Saturday 28th - M2 2017 unleashed on the course Sunday 29th - Junior Texas Scramble Game Golf Update ................... Thursday 2nd - Driving Range Friday 3rd PuttOutt drills / Tiger Who ? Saturday 4th - February Stapleford I'm sure you'll agree - a lot to get through !

So, first stop after watching (and having to leave at half-time) Woburn and Wavendon U8's vs Newport Pagnell - it was time to unleash some M2 action onto my home course. Long story short, had a Titleist 913 in the bag for approx 5 years - went with M2 after a superb custom fitting and here we are.

Stood on the 1st tee, 340 yard Par 4 - OOB left and right (but not tight) - I was ready ........ I normally hit a hybrid or three wood, but today I was hitting driver. I want to say stood up and crushed it - I hit it ok - maybe a 6 out of 10. The result was 9/10 - courtesy of GAME GOLF - my first drive went 273 yards - in winter on a damp course. EXACTLY - why I upgraded!

I'm not going to tell you every shot, because after 20 points on the front I kind of crumbled into a heap of rustiness that only Tiger Woods would be proud of. I finished 3rd out of 3 - but I came off the course smiling, new weapon, new found passion - I love hitting driver - really its my golfing weakness - but this is by far the easiest club i have hit.

I will tell you that depsite buying the M2 for forgiveness - I was amazed by the extra distance as well. Courtesy of GAME GOLF I hit my 913 DRIVER on average (only 3 rounds) 256 yards, and 913 three wood 228 yards. Not bad in winter. M2 (and granted its only 1 round) driver average 276 yards and three wood 246 yards.

Two issues At my home club Par 4 - Stroke Index 1 is about 380 but has a ditch at 280 yards - it was into wind and winter so I hit driver.... the ball carried 275 and luckily the damp conditions put the brakes on and it went 279 ! 1 yard short........ I think I made a solid 6 from there.......

Again, our 14th has a ditch at around 250 yards, into wind and it narrows after the ditch with water down the right. I'll just hit a three wood short - erm no you won't - you'll hit your ball right into that ditch!!!! Normally I'd be fuming, but I had to laugh ! 3 wood 250 into wind - that's a win !

Now after a night out on the town I turned my attention very quickly to something as a father will be one of my most memorable days...... Playing with my son as part of a Junior Texas Scramble Team. First time since July I had played 2 days in a row, but only 9 holes and honestly my wrist has felt fine.
