My Golf Life - Day 58 (2nd March) Range Time (New M2 hybrid!)

ByTheMinute Create A Story

Hi, I am @robertscross and welcome to Day 58 of My Golf Life 2017 I think about golf every day, without fail. Maybe not daily but hourly or even (no pun intended) “ByTheMinute” I am a golf junkie. I can’t help it. If you’ve missed days 1- 57 then have a little look here

So last night armed with a new M2 hybrid (massive shout to Gav for a less than 24 hour club build!) and some new wedge yardages off we went to the driving range.

Joined by Sir Michael Drew (aka The Bedford GC Winter League Champion 2016/17) and Cross Snr. Down to the bottom of the range, three large buckets of balls ready to be hit!!

This driving range is great, each bay has individual yardages (Bushnell Slope scoped) to numerous targets. Lots of flags within 100 yards. Last night as always we put a few little competitions in the session, mix it up a bit but also put a bit of "pressure" in there

Targets last night 24yards, 36 yards, 54, 67, 90, 100 and 110. Lots of knock down shots and really hit the 67 and 90 yardages well. Even the 24 and 34 were of a high standard.

We all agreed that a large bucket is too many, however after a session on weds, I was delighted to be able to go back to back and play two days in a row. Pain free, and no after effects today either!!

The highlight of the night for me was our driving competition. Two targets and in between is the fairway. 5 balls each (+2 pts for fairway hit, -2 for a miss) loser buys the beers. I'd say the fairway was approx 25 yards wide so a pretty tight target, but a good drill, competition based as well

Cross Snr went first and -2 Then Sir Mick +2 Then me - crushed it (+2)

Round 2 Cross Snr -2 (-4) Sir Mick -2 (0) Me +2 (+4)

Round 3 After Cross Snr had missed right with his first two, i pointed out the mat wasnt aligned to the target and to pick a target in line. ...... Cross Snr + 2 (-2) Sir Mick + 2 (+2) Me - 2 (+2)
