My Golf Life (Rollback) - Day 53 (25th February 2017) Scotty Cameron Gallery

ByTheMinute Create A Story

Rollback to Day 53 - 25th February Hi, I am @robertscross and welcome to Days 53 of My Golf Life 2017 I think about golf every day, without fail. Maybe not daily but hourly or even (no pun intended) “ByTheMinute” I am a golf junkie. I can’t help it. If you’ve missed any days then have a little look here

I’ve had at least 4 Scotty Cameron Putters and have to say that I am massive fan, always have been. The quality of the putters and products is the top end of golf. Models : - Laguna 2, Newport 1.5, Futura X5 DB, Futura X7M I also own 5 Scotty headcovers!

Some of the best players in the world trust Scotty to make them arguably the most important club in the bag. You’ll have seen my article on using the Custom Shop, but whilst on a holiday in California I had the opportunity to visit a Scotty Cameron Gallery.

One of only two in the world (the other is in Toyko) this is a true Scotty fans dream. Headcovers, putters, apparel, hats to name but a few. I was so excited to get there, maybe a bit too excited!

We travelled from San Diego to LA on our final day prior to flying home. Encinitas is a small town on the west coast, Scotty liked the feel of the area and set up a “boutique” where people could go and view some of his creations.

So, after a great trip down the west coast we began the drive back. Gallery opened at 10am, we arrived at 0930 and proceeded to the next door Starbucks, which was heaving! There was even a little queue outside the gallery itself! The aim of the trip was to get an X7M Futura headcover with the Scotty Junk Yard Dog on it.

The little man wanted to see what the fuss was about so he joined me, and in we went!! Classic colours, but a small space, double till in the middle. A few putters on display with suitable paintwork, apparel on the left and right wall, hats, t-shirts, a few belts, special pitchforks, bags but very boutique - not much shop.

To be honest that was it, I’m not sure if I had built this up to be a heaven, I was a little disappointed. Things were going to get worse……

I walked straight to the headcovers section and there wasn’t a great deal of options – maybe 8 rows with 8 headcovers – mallet and blade styles covered and these are limited edition. I quickly picked up exactly what I wanted.

The mallet style one. Classic black, but a striking blue and with JYD on - tick! I walked around a bit taking in the limited "gallery" items! But we were en-route to Santa Monica Pier and I didn't need anything else. The headcover didn't have a price and i reluctantly approached the till.........
