Giro D'Italia: Stage 11

Cycling

Hi all! It's stage 11 of the first Grand Tour of the season and it is a pretty good one! We have Landa and Fraile up the road, they're followed by a chasing group which included Costa, Kangert and, virtual 2nd on the road, Andrey Amador! @TimBonvilleGinn here to take you through the stage, it's definitely fireworks today

Team Sunweb have 4 riders around Dumoulin, Movistar just, maybe, waiting to trigger an ambush. They have 3 riders in the break, but Quintana, he still has 4 riders in the peloton with him! 70km to go and the gaps are at 2'40" and 5'07"

Philip Deignan and Hugh Carthy are in the chasing break by the way! The first climb was absolutely mayhem. Dumoulin was isolated and the peloton was about 30 riders deep! But is has since calmed down

Montagutti has attacked the chasing group to try and bridge over! He's shown this season that he cn sprint very well after his stage win in the Tour of the Alps

Kangert pulls Montagutti back in the chasing group, Cannondale need to start pushing soon with the riders they have, Rolland, Villella and Carthy! They need to work for Villella I think, he has the best kick for the flat finish after the hard climb and descent

So, Amador is just 2'00" down on Dumoulin virtually. So, Movistar testing the waters, testing Sunweb, not so much Dumoulin, this is all about seeing what his team can do and how long they can hold on for

Herrada attacks the chase group! Petilli and I think Anton pull away but Catalogue brings it back, it's actually Team Sunweb's Ten Dam who closes Herrada down

Quintana has gained a rider now! And they have the 3 riders up the road in Amador, Herrada and Rojas!

60km to go and the gaps are sat at 2'18" to the chase and 4'51" to a very depleted peloton

Group Amador seems to be closing the gap on GC to Dumoulin! It's nearly a 3'00" gap and with the climbs to come and the descent! Could this be a change in pink already?? I really really doubt it, but, we'll see how much time he can get! As Fraile takesthe points on the climb
