12 Funny Things That Happened At Wimbledon 2017

Tennis

The tennis is over for another year at SW19. Roger Federer made history whilst Garbine Muguruza won her 2nd Grand Slam on the women's side of the tournament. But, hey, enough of the sport. We want to relive some funny moments from this year's championships, right? Let's begin...

1) Rafa Nadal Bumps His Head Yes, when waiting to play Gilles Muller on Centre Court last Monday, Rafa Nadal was doing his usual stretches in the waiting area. He didn't quite manage to get out of the way of the ceiling though... Ouch.

Magenta Change

That sounded so painful!

2) Man vs Poncho The British summer weather always brings out the ponchos (personally I've never seen the use in them...a light rain jacket is MILES better...) Think this fella will likely agree having had to deal with this being broadcast to a national audience.

3) Line Judge Can't Handle Del Potro Juan Martin Del Potro didn't have the best of times at Wimbledon this year. But even he must have felt a wee bit sorry for this line judge in his match with Thanasi Kokkinakis. Should have gone to Specsavers buddy.

4) Clijsters vs Man In Skirt You've all seen this one by now I'm sure. But we couldn't leave it out. One observation though...if that had been a man getting a fat woman on to play a game in a pair of tights shorts, I bet there wouldn't be so many laughs. 'Feminists', eh?

5) Pensioners Love A Bit Of Konta What happens when a jubilant Jo Konta wins her match on Centre Court and meets a rather excited Chelsea Pensioner? Well, it's 2017 so it has to be a selfie. Think he was rather chuffed with himself-ie.

6) Man With Bag On Head A personal favourite of mine. In a women's last 16 match out on court 18 on Manic Monday, this fella was a little too warm. So put a bag on his head to cool down. Just look how happy he is with himself. What a guy!

7) Muguruza's Head Shot I have no idea whether this is a tradition for the female champions (frankly I think the Wimbledon committee would be frowning at the sight of it...) but Garbine Muguruza decided to balance her winning plate on her head after winning on Saturday afternoon. If the circus ever needs a new act...

8) Federer's Double Double Trouble Roger Federer isn't just content with being the greatest male tennis player of all time. Oh, no. He has also co-created two sets of twins. They rather upstaged him with their facial expressions after his triumph on Sunday afternoon.

9) Fognini's Challenging Challenge What happens when you're set point down and you think the ball is out? Well, it's best not to stop playing, especially when you have no challenges remaining. Fabio Fognini found this out against Andy Murray. DOH! Watch here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/40540671
