World Athletics Championship 2017

Helloooo everyone, Anna here (@annalogue_x) ready to bring you this evening's athletics fix! We have plenty in store for tonight, so be sure to follow along.

Now, I won't claim to be an expert, but I will try my best to keep you up to date with everything that's going on!

Tonight's big event; Laura Muir will be hoping to go for gold in the 1500m final later tonight. Sophie Hitchon will also be in the final of the hammer throw competition.

I am in awe of anyone who can run more than one lap of any track, I would definitely be in need of some assistance.

The pole vault (women) medal ceremony is currently taking place, with the shot put (men) ceremony taking place afterwards.

I'm happy to see everyone smiling for the shot put ceremony after the controversy last night, Joe Kovacs (USA), who came second threw an absolutely MASSIVE throw, but the red flag was put up as it was a foul. He wasn't best pleased as he hadn't actually stepped out of the ring, his foot had just touched the top of the white lip, which is still a foul.

Tomas Walsh (NZL), the eventual winner, did a great job of ignoring the commotion and going over 22m on his final throw.

The medal ceremony for the women's 100m final is taking place now, with Torie Bowie (USA) taking the win, 2nd going to Marie-Josee Ta Lou (CIV) and 3rd going to Dafne Schippers (NED). The predicted winner, Elaine Thompson (JAM) was completely run out of it.

Now, first for events this evening, will be the Men's 200m heats, of which there will be seven.

Top three will get automatic qualification for the semis.
