Evening folks! The young guns go head to head in Montreal tonight as Alexander Zverev takes on Nick Kyrgios for a place in the Rogers Cup quarter finals. It's @hannakin__ here with the coverage.

The players are just arriving on court now, this is their 3 meeting of 2017 and overall. Kyrgios leads the head to head 2-0, those wins coming in quick succession in Indian Wells and Miami. Since then however it's been Zverev who's had the better season. Titles in Rome and Washington have really cemented the German's status as the next tennis superstar.

Kyrgios meanwhile has had his usual ups and downs. He suffered with a hip injury forcing early exits during the grass swing, and looked downright disinterested in Washington last week. But he played some impressive tennis in his match against Paolo Lorenzi last night, coming through with the straight sets win. Kyrgios loves the big occasion, so I'm hopeful he'll bring his A-game here.

Yesterday, it was Zverev who had to battle. The fourth seed saved 3 match points against Richard Gasquet, including this mammoth rally...

Winner of this one will face Anderson or Querrey in the Quarter Finals. Anderson is currently a set up in that match. It's been all about Roger and Rafa for much of this year, this could well be next big rivalry.....

Kyrgios to serve... Zverev forehand return past the baseline, 15-0. Booming serve right down the centre, 30-15. 30-30, Kyrgios fires a forehand right and into the net.

Early BREAK POINT for Zverev as Kyrgios goes too heavy with a second serve and double faults... SAVED. Cool as you like with a dropshot forehand winner.

142mph ace down the T for AD, and another huge first serve is returned out to bring up the opening hold for Kyrgios. 1-0*

Zverev opens up with a big first serve of his own for 15-0, Kyrgios sends a cross court forehand long and wide, 30-0. First ace of the match for Zverev for 40-0, and he gets the hold to love as Kyrgios returns wide. 1-1 on serve first set.

Already at 3 double faults from Kyrgios, but he follows with an ace right on the T for 15-15. Kyrgios whipping a couple of forehands, switches it up with a drop shot but Zverev has plenty of time to get there and it's an easy backhand down the line winner for 15-30. Backhand error from Kyrgios, TWO BREAK POINTS...
