BinckBank Tour: Stage 5

Cycling

ByTheMinCycle

Good afternoon everyone! It's a tough day today, it's the Amstel Gold'esque stage! @TimBonvilleGinn here once again of course, will Sagan take the lead of this race today?

The weather isn't too pleasant today, but that doesn't mean we won't see good racing! Of course it's no where near as bad as Colorado last night! Here is the stage profile today

As you can see we have plenty climb! Anyway, the break, Hepburn, van Melsen, Hermans, Allegaert, Reinders, Bagdonas, Vakoç in the break!

Oh Lord a crash and Wagner's bike is tangled with Naesen's! That was a huge panic for AG2R! They're back riding again now. 62km to go and the gap to the break is 2'55"

Ryan Mullen, champion of Ireland is working on the front for Vanmarke as Naesen is being brought back in, he's in the cars but quite a way down with 60km to go. He has 2 teammates with him

Oliver Naesen makes it back into the peloton. Apparently the start finish line is at the Tom Dumoulin Bike Park. Yes that is a thing!

We're on a climb now. I'm not going to try and spell it, plenty of KOM points available

Greipel and Kittel moving up to the front to work for their men. Greipel for Wellens and Kittel for Gilbert, Greipel is doing a better Jon than Kittel unsurprising really as it is uphill

Tony Martin moves up to the front, Sagan and Dumoulin also right up there, Mullen is really upping the pace. Küng and Van Avermaet move up too

A lovely mention once again by Carlton on Eurosport. Oooh dear, Filippo Ganna down and hurt.
