Good evening viewers all round the Globe. It's the grand finale of the PGAs 2017 season. I'm @doreguymke & I'll be sharing the early going with you from my castle ( tent ) high up in the Rockie mountains.

This weekends venue is Eastlake G.C. 5 miles from downtown Atlanta. Built in 1904. Anyway more about that shortly. Currently Gary Woodland on 1 putting for birdie. Short. DJ on the 3rd. Iron off the tee. A short par 4 !!! Only 390 yds.

Top of the leaderboard hasn't budged yet. Spyth has just crept onto the bottom of it w a birdie on the 2nd. He's at -5. Merely 7 back. Who knows what's gonna happen here.

A leaderboard. It's early folks. Very early.

Spyth on the 3rd. Drawing into the hole. He's got 6 feet for another bird. 8 groups are through 3 today. 6 birdies so far. One of the easier holes in play. Eastlake is playing 7,362 yds today. Par 70. Wow.

Webb "praise my lawd" Simpson putting now for par. And we didn't see the outcome. Over to DJ the 3rd green. It leaks right and it's not dead yet. Like me last night !,

All eyes on Jordan here. Oooooo. How's she going ? A Cuban putt. And it's a safe par for the Texas boy. And we switch from Golf Channel to NBC. So I've got nothing to say for the next 6 minutes. I will call on my living brain cells to enlighten you

Anyway Eastlake Golf Club was originally Atlanta Athletic Club and the 1st Atheltics coach director was a lad called John Heisman. Yes. The Heisman trophy is named after him. ( MVP of the college football year in the US ).

Eastlake was home to the legendary Bobby Jones, who is rumored to have played both his 1st & last ever rounds of golf here. It's clubhouse is a 2 storey edifice in the Tudor style and was rebuilt after a fire in 1925.

Jones is one of 2 men to have been awarded the freedom of the City of St. Andrews. Anyone know who the other man is ?
