Boston Red Sox

Houston Astros

Good evening and welcome to coverage of ALDS Game 2 between the Boston Red Sox and the Houston Astros. I'm Mel (@MissMelanie_H). The Astros won comfortably last night (8-2) and will be looking to press their advantage. The Red Sox will want to level the series and remain competitive. The pitchers hoping to do that are Drew Pomeranz (17-6) for the Red Sox and Dallas Keuchel (14-5) for the Astros.

Full starting lineups are follows: RED SOX: Xander Bogaerts, Dustin Pedroia, Andrew Benintendi, Mookie Betts, Hanley Ramirez, Chris Young, Christian Vaquez, Deven Marrero, Jackie Bradley Jr., Drew Pomeranz ASTROS: George Spinger, Alex Bregman, Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Evan Gattis, Josh Reddick, Yuli Gurriel, Marwin Gonzalez, Brian McCann, Dallas Keuchel

I am not a fan other team particularly (my beloved Cubs play the Nationals later) but I do have a soft spot for the Astros so I will be cheering them on tonight. I will do my best to remain neutral on here. Also a warning, I am watching online (as my Sky Box or satellite dish doesn't seem to like BT Sports) so I may be slightly behind on my comms.

Nearly ready for the first pitch. Keuchel is on the mound to pitch to Bogaerts.

First pitch is a strike but it is quickly followed by a ball. Grounded to third and neatly thrown to first for the first out.

Next up is Pedroia who takes a ball first up. Make that two balls in a row. And yet another one. Not the best of starts from Keuchel as he walks Pedroia.

Benintendi comes to the plate and also takes a ball. Another one - 6 in a row from the pitcher. A strike! And another levels the count up. Ground ball to first and they throw Pedroia out at second.

Betts is the next batter. Strike one after one pitch but a ball levels up the count. Base hit to the right field but Betts gets to second and Benintendi is now at third.

Ramirez at the plate with two runners in scoring positions. Strike one. Wonderful stop by Bregman at third who throws to first and the inning is over. BOS 0 - 0 HOU (Mid 1)

Pomeranz now takes the mound to pitch to Springer. He starts with a stroke but then a curve ball misses the target. Another ball follows. Springer swings at a low ball to level the count. Grounded to second and we have our first out.
