Evening All - More baseball action here for you all from The National League Divisional Series as the defending champion CHicago Cubs take on the Washington Nationals in Game 1 of thier 5 game series. Stephen Clark here with updates on this one.

Stephen Strasburg on the mound for the Nationals and he pitches a gem of a first inning stiking out the side, CHC 0-0 WAS (Mid 1)

Kyle Hendricks pitching for the Cubs. After a groundball out, Bryce Harper on his return from injury gets a base hit to give Washington a good start. Harper advances to second on a nubber by Rendon up the first base line but he istranded there afte Daniel Murphy hits a laser straight to Rizzo at 1st base CUBS 0 NATIONALS 0 after 1

Strasburg with a 3rd straight strikeout, this time on Wilson Contreras, gets the 1st out of the 2nd inning. Kyle Schwarber flies out on the 1st pitch to Jayson Werth in left field. Cubs get their first man aboard as Addison Russell draws a walk, ending Strasburg's perfect game bid. Pop fly by Heyward to Harper ends the inning CHC 0-0 WAS (Mid 2)

Ryan Zimmerman grounds out and then Hendricks gets his first strikeout, on Werth, via a very debatable call by the home plate umpire. Matt Wieters is hit by a breaking ball on the leg to get aboard as Hendricks loses control for a moment. Base hit for Michael Taylor puts a runner in scoring position. However Strasburg nubs one up the first base line and strands the runners. CUBS 0 NATIONALS 0

Strasburg pitching pure filth at the moment and he gets his 4th strikeout as Javier Baez goes down swinging. If the batters struggle to hit him, then Kyle Hendricks has no chance. Ben Zobrist has seen two pitches tonight and popped them both up. Inning over and Strasburg is dominating. CHC 0-0 WAS (Mid 3)

Trea Turner with an infield grounder for the first out of the Washington 3rd inning. That brings Bryce Harper to the plate. He strikes out and then a fly ball from rendon ends the inning. First 1-2-3 for Hendricks and the Cubs. CUBS 0 NATIONALS 0 after 3

Joe Madden was keen to see how his Cubs matched up against Strasburg the 2nd time through the order. The answer is not much better as Bryant and Rizzo strikeout to make it 7 K's for the Washington ace. That is a franchise post season record and we are only in the 4th inning. Then he is helped out by a great stop by Murphy at 2nd to take out Contreras and end the inning. CHC 0-0 WAS (mid 4)

Lead off walk for Daniel Murphy and Washington in the bottom of the 4th inning. Zimmerman has a shattered bat hit to 2nd base and the Cubs turn the first double play of the night. Hendricks issues his second walk of the inning to Werth but recovers his composure and strikes out Wieters to end the inning. CUBS 0 NATIONALS 0 after 4

Schwarber strikes out to give Strasburg his 8th K of the night. Addison Russell and Jason Heyward also go down quickly and the Cubs bow out of the 5th meekly and quickly CHC 0-0 WAS (Mid 5)
