Anthony Crolla vs Ricky Burns

Hello everyone. Alistair Sargent here for a big domestic lightweight dust-up. It's England vs Scotland. Former world champion vs former world champion. It's Anthony Crolla vs Ricky Burns live from Manchester as it happens. Fighters due to ring-walk in approx 15 mins time.

No world titles at stake tonight, Crolla is off the back of two world lightweight title fight losses to Jorge Linares while Ricky Burns dropped his 140 lb belt to Julius Indongo in Glasgow earlier this year. Burns is back in the 135lb lightweight division for a fight that is surely make or break for both men. A win could bring one last big hurrah, defeat could signal the beginning of the end.

A terrific atmosphere inside the Manchester Arena for hometown hero Crolla. Hopefully a bit of support gone down the road from Glasgow to support Burns. I'm a big fan of both of these guys, two real gentlemen who have conducted themselves with class and produced some memorable moments down the years. As a Scot I have to edge towards supporting Ricky though.

Michael Buffer says "let's get this party started". I won't argue with you Micky boy. Ricky Burns heading to the ring first, sporting some Apollo Creed red and white striped shorts this evening

Scotland's first three weight world champion. A sporting legend north of the border. At 34 does he have anything left in the tank? Crolla, 4 years Burns junior and also slightly fewer bouts should, in theory, have more gas left. Here he comes to a brilliant reception.

Over in Germany Chris Eubank has just decimated Avni Yildirim in round 3 of their WBSS 1/4 final. So all eyes now on Manchester and this great fight

Introductions of both fighters completed. Referee with his final instructions to both boxers. Plenty respect in the glove touch. Crolla vs Burns is on!!

Round 1: Burns behind the jab looking to use his slight reach advantage early. Doing well to keep Crolla at bay but Crolla just flashes a left hook in that catches the high guard to keep Burns on his toes.

Crolla looks to close the distance and Burns looks for a right uppercut that whistles just off target. Danger for Crolla in coming in too rashly. 1-2 combo from Crolla but Burns defence is tight. Burns back behind the jab and follows it with a right hand. Crolla to the body late but it's Burns' round for me. 10-9 Burns
