UFC 216: Ferguson v Lee

Evening everyone. Jody Jamieson here for UFC 216. As the event is taking place in Las Vegas just six days after the tragic events, it would be remiss of me not to give out my condolences to those who are grieving and suffering right now. In a weird way, hopefully an entertaining night of mixed martial arts will be a useful part of the healing process for some. Or at least a momentary distraction for a few hours. Here is what we’ve got in store for you tonight. Two title fights, the unofficial official opening of the women’s flyweight division, and a fun slate of undercard fights to take you to 3am.

On this weekend last year I was in Manchester, bringing you UFC 204 from the building. Tonight I’m in a flat in Edinburgh using Fight Pass and the trusty BT Sport app. Not quite the same I grant you, but should be a fun night regardless!

PS. Now that I called it the “trusty BT Sport app” I’ve cursed it. I know it.

BREAKING NEWS: There's gonna be another reshuffle. Derrick Lewis vs. Fabricio Werdum has been cancelled from the main card at the last minute. One of the fighters is injured, though not confirmed who. First fight will be at midnight now. Awaiting confirmation of the new fight order.

So we have a little over 20 minutes till the action gets underway. Back in March, I spoke to Pearl Gonzalez before her UFC 210 tilt with Cynthia Calvillo. She makes her second Octagon appearance tonight against Poliana Botelho. Go check out our chat. Will see you at midnight! Unless I get the new running order before.

Confirmation that it's Derrick Lewis' long term back injury that's put the ixnay on the fight tonight. 11 fight card. Waiting to see what gets promoted.

Still no confirmation on the reshuffle. If you feel compelled to do something to support the families of the Las Vegas shooting, go check this out. 100% of profits go to the victims families and their chosen charities.

Ariel as always on top of things.

We're live in the building. Jon Anik, Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier on the broadcast. The NSAC hasn't adopted the new unified rules. Thankfully though Adelaide Byrd has the night off. Let's get started!

THALES LEITES VS. BRAD TAVARES We open in the middleweight division with two guys hoping to build on big victories. Leites was successful last time out in April, defeating Sam Alvey. Tavares has won back to back fights, most recently a decision over Elias Theodorou.
