US Grand Prix Qualifying

F1

Good Evening - yes it's late! - and welcome to the American Grand Prix qualifying. Why is qualifying so late? So more people stay to see Justin Timberlake... yep. Thanks Justin.

Anyway, if you've been under a rock for the past week or so, here's what you missed. Palmer is gone, Sainz is replacing until end of 2018. Gasly is in Japan, to race in Super Formula, but that has been cancelled and he loses the championship by 0.5 points! Brendon Hartely, the Porshe WEC driver, ex- junior programme, makes his debut Kvyat is back And Hamilton could win the championship

This qualifying means a lot to me as well, 2 years ago, my first story was on the 2015 USGP qualifying, that was delayed because of rain, and nothing happened at all. Good times...

We also won't have the purple ultrasoft tyres this week, as F1 has gone pink for breast cancer research, which is a lovely gesture, but the charity chosen is not the cleanest one around...

Here we go, green lights, and Hartley goes out on track

HAR is likely to start at the back, as he has a 25 place grid penalty, while HUL has a 20 place grid penalty, and then VAN has a 5 place grid penalty

Kvyat sets the first time, a 1:37.865, on the ultras WEH then sets a 1:37.682, on the same tyres

HAR is not far behind, with a 1:38.129 ERI is +0.962 behind WEH time.

On-board with HAM, and he seems to have a scruffy lap, on the super softs, and sets a 1:36.4... and now we see all the times we missed!

Bottas is P1 with a 1:35.309, super softs, while Ocon is +0.540 on ultras. Max is complaining about traffic, bails out of his lap.
