The Scariest Movies Ever

Gigli. Sex and the City 2. As Good As It Gets. What do all these films have in common?

Answer - They were among the titles I considered when I was invited to put together the list of the 10 scariest films ever made.

But I would never watch Sex and the City 2 because I don't hate myself quite that much, so I thought I'd stick to films I've seen.

Hello, I'm Steve. You might remember me from such By The Mins as St. Mirren vs Motherwell a couple of years ago.

So yes, I've been asked to put together this list and, in true film nerd fashion (as I am one - I wouldn't say unashamedly though, it's qute shamedly), I mulled it over for faaaaaaar too long.

I decided to make it easier on myself by sticking to the scariest films I've ever seen rather than just my favourite horror films, because I think there's a difference. I'm a big horror film fan - I'd list Aliens and The Thing, among others, as a couple of my favourite films of all time. Are they two of the scariest films I've ever seen though? Not really.

So I've focused on ones that got under my skin rather. I'm not easily scared by films at all but these are the ones that, at the very least, came as close as dammit to making me sleep with my bedroom light on.

What do I have in store for you? Well, I'm sure there will be a couple here that make you go, "Ugh, everyone bloody says that one!" but there may also be a couple here that make you go, "Well I've never even chuffing heard of that one".

But they're all great horror films, well known or otherwise, all highly recommended by yours truly. Let's start with one that might fall under the 'never heard of it' banner, although you'd certainly hear its lead character coming....
