Then a single 5. What a salmon!!

Thornton (2) 2 - 1 (1) Dolan No matter it's a 12 dart leg for Thornton who lands tops for a 75 checkout to seal the deal. He's one away.

Thornton (2) 2 - 2 (1) Dolan Slower leg but Dolan is well in control. D8 in the end for Dolan to stay alive. But Thornton is throwing for the match.

121, 140 to start from the Scot. No treble in 6 darts from Dolan. And 140 from Thornton. Superb.

76 from Thornton in a wild visit. D12 he needs for the match. Dolan not on a finish

He needs one dart! Game, shot and the match, Robert Thornton!! Wraps up the fourth set 3-2 and wins the game 3-1. Cracking game and a good performance from Thornton.

Well that was an enjoyable end to a busy afternoon of darts. Two seeds tumble as Benito van de Pas and Mervyn King lose out to Steve West and Zoran Lerchbacher but Robert Thornton stops the rot with a very good performance against Brendan Dolan in a game of big finishes. I've been Alistair Sargent. Thanks for following along today. Catch ye soon!
