PDC World Championships: Day Three

Day Three Fixtures/Results Preliminary Round: Brendan Dolan 2 - 0 Alan Ljubic Round One: Benito van de Pas 1 - 3 Steve West Mervyn King 2 - 3 Zoran Lerchbacher Robert Thornton 3 - 1 Brendan Dolan

King (2) 0 - 1 (2) Lerchbacher Much better stuff. 12 dart leg with a 96 checkout from Lerchbacher to hold. Now a strong favourite to advance here.

King (2) 0 - 2 (2) Lerchbacher One away! Break of throw in 15 darts and Lerchbacher has a 7th consecutive leg. He's on the verge.

136 to leave tops after 12 darts from Lerchbacher...

And that's it! Game, shot and the match! Zoran Lerchbacher beats Mervyn King. A second seed sent tumbling this afternoon. King clearly effected by the back injury later on but Lerchbacher was relentless and played his own game to make it through to round two for the first time. 3-0 in the final set to complete the turn around. King 2 - 3 Lerchbacher

So one more game to come today. Robert Thornton to take on Brendan Dolan after Dolan won his prelim match earlier today.

Already we've seen the two seeds lose out in our first round matches. Is another shock in the offing? As a Scot I'm hoping Bob Thornton isn't caught out here.

Players on stage. Crowd enjoying a wee sing along to 500 Miles as Thornton walked on. Dolan was shaking his head at himself quite extensively earlier in the prelim. If Thornton starts well there's only one outcome here. But Thornton is also known for his dreadful collapses.

Anyhow, away we go. Dolan with throw. Both open up with 140s

Thornton 0 - 1 Dolan Hold of throw in 13 darts for Dolan. Solid start. D16 the final knockings of the leg.

Thornton 1 - 1 Dolan Another hold. Dolan a long way back and Thornton takes out 73 on D8 with his final dart after a very wide range finding second dart at the red bit.
