Morning all, no.2 seed Caroline Wozniacki's fightback to win from match point down at 5-1 just now has delayed this match somewhat, but the men's number one Rafael Nadal is about to get underway against Leonardo Mayer out on Rod Laver Arena. It's Hannah here with the live updates of this second round match.

Players should be out on court in the next few minutes. Nadal carries this head to head 4-0. Mayer has one just one set against Rafa - a first set tiebreak at the US open last year.

Here comes (sleeveless) Rafa, who looking in imperious form in his opening round match a couple of days ago. He defeated Victor Estrella Burgos 6-1 6-1 6-1. Leonardo Mayer took out Nicolas Jarry, also in straights.

While we wait for these guys to finish warming up, Jo Wilfred Tsonga has just completed a 5th set comeback from 5-2 down to defeat Denis Shapovalov, avoiding a repeat of their second round tie at the US open.

Off we go, Nadal serving first. Ace to start. Mayer quick to come into the net, finishes a backhand volley for 15-30. Couple big serves from Rafa to move him back ahead, and an ace down the T puts him on the board.

Mayer's serve also firing well early doors here. An ace and a few service winners bring up the hold to get us on serve in the first set, 1-1.

Nice charge out wide from Rafa to fire back the forehand down the line winner. 15-0. Mayer tries to craft a backhand down the line, but it's called just wide, 30-15. Service winner and a forehand blasted to the corner to force the error, game Nadal. 2-1*

Nadal's deep returning position has it's added advantages on this court - it's the only place there's any shade! Mayer steps into a backhand down the line, sails wide. 15-15. Again nice defensive net play from Mayer, short volley winner, 30-15. This time Mayer gets his down the line arrowing just right, 40-15.

Couple errors from Mayer to take it to deuce. First ace for the Argentine for AD but a double fault follows, back to deuce. Cross court forehand to force the error from Mayer, BREAK POINT NADAL...

And there's the break! Forehand wing left wide open for Rafa who makes no mistake. 3*-1 first set.
