Premier League Darts: Dublin

Good evening everyone! Premier League darts is back! Week One comes from Dublin, and don’t worry about not having any walk on girls - you’ve got me, @Ugster1, to keep you company. You never know, I may slip into something more comfortable later...

van Gerwen the defending champion, of course, but faces plenty of challengers to the crown, not least from new World Champion Rob Cross, who was so impressive at Alexandra Palace last month. They meet tonight in the opening week’s feature fixture.

Tonight’s menu: Mensur Suljovic v Simon Whitlock Gary Anderson v Michael Smith Daryl Gurney v Raymond van Barneveld Michael van Gerwen v Rob Cross Peter Wright v Gerwyn Price

So quite a different look to the 2018 Premier League, with four debutants, and of course one obvious name missing...

So how will the Premier League perform in the post-Taylor era? Very well, is my prediction. It’s a long road to finals night at the O2 in mid May - we’ll get the ball rolling in the next few minutes!

Zeitgeist news - no walk on girls, but the dancers still in evidence. Players on stage for the first match, that’s underway imminently.

It’s Mensur Suljovic v Simon Whitlock, Suljovic has the throw. 12 legs, two points for the win, one apiece for the draw. 9,000 fans in Dublin, sounds like a cracking atmosphere. Game on!

MS 1-0 SW That’s a great way to start, a 121 out for Suljovic, a treble 13 in there before the d16 out.

MS 1-1 SW If you’re familiar with these two you’ll know they aren’t the quickest players. They aren’t Justin Pipe-slow (thank goodness), just nice and steady. Whitlock with the straightforward hold.

MS 2-1 SW Suljovic making short work of the checkouts - 110 that time, impressive stuff. His average just under the ton at the moment.
