Phoenix Open: Final Round

Golf

So next week it’s Pebble Beach, and perhaps we can have a tournament that doesn’t require a playoff... We’ll be back to cover that next week. Until then, and with thanks to Alan for the earlier coverage, enjoy your week - @Ugster1 signing off!

So a great last round for Woodland, -7, looked like he might win without the need for a playoff, but birdies at 17 and 18 got Reavie in. Looked to be going his way after the tee shots, but Woodland did enough to make par and take the title.

Woodland to tap in...and he does! Gary Woodland wins the Phoenix Open!

Reavie can’t make the putt this time! Only just misses, nearly catches the edge. Bogey.

The man from Kansas is the champ !!!!! Cheers lads. Talk soon!!!!

Not enough pace, drifts right, can tap in for par. So pressure right back on Reavie.

So Woodland has a putt from just off the green for a birdie and win...

Reavie chipping from off the green. And he’s come up quite short, never looked to have much pace to it.

Mike Barry

Chunked it.

Although of course Woodland has a tricky one. Catches it well, right at the flag, but short, just off green. Honours about even?

Mike Barry

You're gonna be at this till dark hehehe

Matt (@Ugster1)

It’s already dark here! 😀

Reavie to play his second first. Finds the green, but then trickles off to the left. Not great, chance for Woodland here.

Woodland is in Mickelson country after his drive, although he’s in the sand rather than the long stuff. Reavie not as far, but safely on the fairway and has the advantage.

Im warming up the car to make a run & watch a bit of the Bowl at our rugby club. There were some clowns out there playing snow football earlier

Matt (@Ugster1)

I fear this isn’t going to be the only play off hole...
