UFC 221: Romero vs Rockhold



How’s it going fight fans? UFC is down under for UFC 221 tonight. Prelims about to get underway. Here’s your card.

Quick news in case you missed it. Yoel Romero missed weight, so only Rockhold can take home the interim belt tonight. Another awkward situation for the UFC. Mark Hunt goes in as the underdog against Curtis Blaydes in the co-main. Not the deepest card tonight, but enough potential good fights to hopefully make it a good night!

Aussie commission has not adopted new rules. Rubbish. Jon Anik is joined by Jimmy Smith! Awesome to hear him calling UFC fights after a great run in Bellator.

Time to open the card. 170 gets us underway.

LUKE JUMEAU (12-4) vs. DAICHI ABE (6-0) Welterweight Bout New Zealand’s Jumeau looks to get back in the win column after a 7 fight winning streak was snapped by Shinsho Anzai in September. Currently sitting 1-1 in the UFC, he takes on the undefeated Abe who won his Octagon debut against Hyun Guy Lim on the same night as Jumeau‘s last fight at UFC Saitama.

Jumeau vs. Abe. Abe closes as a -150 favourite. No atmosphere at all in the building right now. Hardly anyone there for the first prelim. It is half 7 in the morning in Perth. Mark Simpson is the ref. UFC 221 is underway!

Abe takes the middle early and flashes a high kick that’s partially blocked. Jumeau with a nice shot on the counter.

Stinging jab for Jumeau. Abe feinting a lot and throwing bombs from distance.

Jumeau almost gets picked off with a counter hook. Nice teep from Abe. Jumeau lands a nice overhand and then drops him with another! Abe up quickly but the legs wobbled big time there.

Outside leg kick from Jumeau and the. A stinging jab. Abe has a kick caught but lands a sweet right hand over the top.
