Ayr Utd

Good afternoon! Gary Petersen on the call as we prepare for the first of a Sunday Scottish Cup double header. Aberdeen vs Dundee United comes later but first it's Ayr United vs Rangers from Somerset Park. Kick off is at 2.30pm.

A full house is expected on the west coast so there'll be no shortage of atmosphere. As evidenced by this photo from Sky's Ian Crocker, some snow showers have made it a busy morning for the Ayr Utd Ground staff. The game thankfully goes ahead however.

We've got the team lines in so let's have a peep shall we?

Here is the starting eleven for Ayr. Sadly, Ayr manager Ian McCall won't be in attendance after undergoing surgery on a detached retina on Tuesday. Assistant manager Neil Scally takes charge of the side today.

This is the Rangers line up Graeme Murty has went with.

Despite being two leagues beneath them, it's unlikely that this will be an easy afternoon stroll for Rangers. Ayr have had a fine season thus far, currently sitting 2nd in League One. With the crowd behind them especially, this has all the makings of a potential cup upset.

Both sets of players are making their way out of the tunnel. Kick off is fast approaching.

We're underway! Rangers kick us off shooting from right to left in this first half.

'1 - Ayr looking to get out of the blocks quickly. Alan Forrest, brother of Celtic midfielder James, takes on his full back but can only send his cross over the crossbar.

As you'd perhaps expect from a lower league ground that was draped in snow a few hours ago, the Somerset Park pitch is not in the best condition. Mud patches galore.
