Winter Olympics 2018- Ladies’ Skeleton

Olympics

Good morning everyone! We should be getting underway with today's skeleton heats in around 20 minutes, so in the mean time, catch up with yesterday's coverage here; https://www.bytheminute.co/events/7022-olympics-winter-olympics-2018-ladies-skeleton-follow-all-the-action-from-pyeongchang-as-lizzy-yarnold-and-laura-deas-try-to-make-it-through-the-heats-of-the-skeleton-competition-live-16-feb-2018

Lizzy and Laura are both very well poised to go for the medal positions, sitting in 3rd and 4th place respectively.

First to go will be Loelling (GER), who is in the lead after yesterday's heats. The times from each heat are added together to give each racer a 'cumulative result' which determines their overall placing at the end, so even though someone may have a quicker time for one heat, they won't necessarily be in 1st position.

At the moment, it's all very tight at the top, with only half a second separating the top 5 racers.

Lizzy Yarnold is only 0.10s off the gold medal position, with Laura Deas being 0.17s off it. Still all to be decided in these last 2 runs!

Right, here we go then! Loelling to start us off.

She's off to a good start, can she get down bump-free?

Oooof, not quite, but it's a solid time of 52.04s.

A bit slower than her fastest heat, so can the others capitalise on that?

Flock (AUT) now, she's in 2nd after yesterday.
