Australian GP: Practice 1

F1

Always remember to set your alarms, guys! It's a belated start from us but welcome to the first pracrice session for the Australian Grand Prix!

45 minutes to go and here's the latest from Melbourne where Lewis Hamilton is four tenths ahead of the two Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo with the two Ferrari's of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonnen just under a second back.

There's no one on track at the moment but concerning news from McLaren is that Alonso is stuck in the pits again.. this time its supposedly an exhaust issue.

45 minutes gone..

A flurry of cars on track now including both Saubers of CLC and ERI, the two Williams of STR and SIR along with the two Toro Rosso's of GAS and HAR. BOT and VER are out, too!

As is fastest man so far, Lewis Hamilton.

A few position changes, BOt is up to second now but as I type this, HAM sets the fastest lap of the session. Seemikngly imperious form from the current World Champion. GAS is up to 12th and STR is up to 8th.

ALO is the only man not to set a time so far this morning and VAN has the slowest time. Not the best start to life under Renault but it is early days.

1:24.1 is HAM's time by the way. Completely forgot to say!

Everyone bar MAG, HAR, ALO and VAN are out on the track getting some running as VET runs wide at T13, he'll abort that lap and no doubt try again.
