Dwars door Vlaanderen

Hello! It's a wet, windy, cold and tough old Dwars Door Vlaanderen! Last year's winner, Yves Lampaert is here, but he also has Elia Viviani to maybe concentrate on. @TimBonvilleGinn here to cover the race.

Kristoff, Stuyvan, Van Avermaet, Terpstra, Vanmarke, Moscon, Valgren and Naesn to name a few... So so many big names! Tiej Bernoot is a main focus too of course.

Alejandro Valverde, Nairo Quintana and I believe Mikel Landa are all here! This has caused many problems in the press. The Flemish press were furious that Movistar are using this as a training ride for Le Tour.

We've got 12 climbs today, it's a very tough course. We started in Roselare (probably spelt wrong) to Waregem but we do a lot of riding before then. So much steam coming up from the peloton, it's quite a site! Luke Rowe is on his own and riding a great race, he's 53" ahead of a chase and 1'05" ahead of the peloton. 85km to go. It's a Bahrain Merida rider chasing with a Direct Energie riser near him

Langeveld and Pibernik have a little tumble. This is vile vile weather, oh dear Pibernik having a problem but he's back riding now, meanwhile, his teammate, Nicola Bonifazio is Luke Rowe's chaser.

Rowe is getting close to the Kruisberg, 10km before he gets to that for the 2nd time. The Welshman is looking good as Alexander Pichot has caught Bonifazio and they'll now work together.

But the peloton is right on the tail of those two. It's a sharp contrast to the weather here, lovely sunshine at the moment here in Yorkshire! We see Bernoot and a teammate right on the rear bumper of his team car! That's impressive.

Belgian National Champ, Oliver Naesen, Has abandoned the race. Maybe he was feeling a bit sick, he doesn't want a bug just before the Ronde!!

Ellen Van Dyck took the victory in the woman's Dwars Door Vlaanderen. Once again we didn't see any pictures sadly.

Valverde and Mezgec needing bike changes. I wonder, what's Valverde like on cobbles? With the form he's in, could we see Bala involved at the end? I doubt it, but you never know. 75km to go, 52" gap. I believe Bonifazio and Pichot have been caught, no gap for them given.
