Atlanta Braves

Philadelphia Phillies

Good evening all! So opening day is here at last (that should probably be Opening Day), and to follow on from the Cubs/Marlins opener, we have coverage of the Phillies visit to Atlanta. @Ugster1 with you for it - very much from the Braves side of things...!

The game in Miami has just finished - catch up with that here -

Before we get into this one, how about some Hall Of Famers? We’ll start with an older one...

Hammerin’ Hank:

And a box-fresh new HOF’er, Mr Jones:

An exciting season ahead for the Braves, the rebuild is well underway and whilst the suggestion seems to be that 2019 will be the real breakthrough season, there’s hope for 2018 too. No Acuna yet, but hopefully we’ll see him in a couple of weeks or so.

The Phillies also hoping to make a statement this year, a new manager in Gabe Kapler, the signing of Arrieta and locking up Scott Kingery long term.

Julio Teheran on the mound for the Braves, he’s making the fifth opening day start in a row for the Braves - no one’s ever done that for the Braves before, which is quite a thing. That may reflect a weakness in the rotation over the last few years though.

Right, your line ups:

And we’re off! Good start for the Phillies as Hernandez gets one up the middle for a single.
