New Zealand

Good evening and welcome to the first session of the 2nd Test between New Zealand and England from Christchurch. I'm Mel (@MissMelanie_H). Will England be able to win a Test away from home after a miserable Ashes and last Test against New Zealand?

TOSS: New Zealand win the toss and Williamson decides to have a bowl. No real surprises there after the last Test!

ENGLAND: Cook, Stoneman, Vince, Root, Malan, Stokes, Bairstow, Broad, Wood, Leach, Anderson

NEW ZEALAND: Latham, Raval, Williamson, Taylor, Nicholls, Watling, de Grandhomme, Southee, Sodhi, Wagner, Boult

Nearly ready for the start of play. Alastair Cook and Mark Stoneman come to the crease to hopefully do better than in the last Test. Trent Boult has the ball in his hands.

ENG 5/0 (1) Cook clips a shot off his legs for a single to start proceedings as Jerusalem rings out from the Barmy Army. Stoneman gets an inside edge and it runs down past the keeper for four.

ENG 6/0 (2) Tim Southee comes in from the other end. LBW shout against Cook but missing the stumps. There was also a shout for a caught behind but it clipping his legs not the bat.

WICKET! ENG 6/1 (2.4) A slight misfield but they decide not to run. And then Boult gets a ball straight through Cook's defences and sends the stump cartwheeling!

ENG 6/1 (3) James Vince comes out to the middle. Wicket maiden.

ENG 8/1 (4) Stoneman times the ball nicely but they can only run two as there are big boundaries at the Hagley Oval. Oooh - that was close but no bat involved.
