Premier League Darts: Judgement Night

A sad, sad day in the history books. Let’s pause for a moment to think about Eric Bristow MBE, and what he’s done for the sport of darts.

MATCH RESULT: Simon Whitlock 7-3 Gerwyn Price

Price can't check out 106, Whitlock is able to check out 50 in two darts, and takes the first match of the evening 7-3. A disappointing Premier League campaign for Price sees him score the lowest amount of points since the elimination system began (2), but I'm sure he'll take a lot from the experience. Up next: Raymond van Barneveld vs Michael Smith.

Smith has had an exceptional PL so far, sitting in a solid second-place on the table, with twelve points - two clear of Cross and Whitlock. Barney is sitting on eight points at present - a win here will put him level with Cross and Whitlock.

Walk-ons complete. Practice darts in progress. Barney vs Smith, with Kirk Bevins calling.

Smith may well be the local lad here in Liverpool, but the ever-popular Raymond van Barneveld has the crowd on his side, with many loud cheers to his walk-on.

BULLSEYE FOR BULLY BOY TO BREAK! A couple of missed darts at double for Barney allow Smith a chance at two single 18s for the bullseye. Of course, he hit to break. 1-0 Smith.

A hold of throw for Smith sees him take the 2-0 lead, as he pins his favourite D10.

More misses for Barney allow Smith to pin D8, last dart in hand, to break yet again. Nothing wrong with Barney's scoring - it's the finishing (0/5!). 3-0 Smith.

GOOD EFFORT! Smith leaves himself 170, hitting the two trebles before hitting the outer bull, which is his first miss at a double! Hits D10 to lead 4-0. Doubles: MS - 4/5 (4/4 outer ring) | RVB - 0/5. Averages: MS - 103 | RVB - 96.

Smith has 161, which becomes 24, which becomes zero - all in the space of four darts. This man's on fire! I must stress that Barney is NOT playing badly, it's just the finishing that's letting him down! 5-0 Smith, break of throw.
