The Masters 2018: Round Two

Hello boys and girls! Roll on up, Day 2 at Augusta is underway. I'm Matt Verri and you're going to have to put up with me for the next two hours, so get yourselves comfortable. As is standard for the Masters, Sky aren't really showing much live stuff... so I shall be forced to focus on the featured groups - primarily Kuchar, Mickelson and Fowler so far. However, I shall endeavour to keep you updated on Spieth, Rory and others who have just teed off. LET'S GO!

Aaaaaaaaaand Rory has messed up the first hole, already dropped a shot. Left himself 15 feet for par, couldn't make it and that's him to -2. Spieth also in big trouble on the 1st hole, having sent his tee shot miles right. All of those ripping up your betting slips yesterday as young Jordan looked unstoppable, hold on to them!

Mickelson from the bunker by the green at the 2nd.... superb! Trickles just past the hole and he should make that easily enough for a birdie. Just showing one group is so terrible to watch... just staring at them plodding around most of the time. Seems strange neither Spieth's group or McIlroy's group is featured this afternoon. Finally some golf.... and Kuchar misses his birdie putt at the 2nd. Taps in for par, stays at -4. No such problems for Big Phil, lovely putt from about 10ft and he moves to -3 and three back.

Fowler, who bogied the first, makes a par putt from a few feet to stay at -1. All three of this group doing pretty well so far. SPIETH NEWS... ish. According to my tracker, he is still hacking away in the trees. Noren and Oosthuizen will have puts for birdie at the 1st, but Jordan is in trouble. Third shot from Spieth, gets it to the edge of the green. Will test even his abilities to make par from there...

If you have a particular player, or if you're extremely greedy more than one player, that you want some updates on, let me know in the comments below and I'll try my best for you. Unless it requires too much effort, in which case you're on your own. McIlroy has bombed his drive on the 2nd into a fairway bunker... playing partner Rahm has smashed it 326 yards straight down the middle.

Spieth unable to save par on the 1st... still work to do for his bogey too. Oosthuizen also misses his putt, but that was for birdie so he'll settle for a solid par start. JEEZ.... Spieth misses his bogey putt!! It's a double bogey to start for Jordan, and he's back to -4. There goes the outright lead. That's woken everyone up.

Fowler from the rough on the 3rd hole... doesn't really get any control and he's off the right hand side of the green. To the 7th we go... Haotong Li from the bunker. And that's truly awful, goes over the green, over everyone watching, and onto the fairway of the hole next to it. Deary me. KOOOOOOOOOCH, who is now our joint leader.... approach to the 3rd looks very good, but it keeps going and runs off the back of the green. Tricky up and down coming.

McIlroy has a putt for birdie on the Par 5 2nd.... 30ft according to the app.... MAKES IT!! Gets that shot back straight away, back to -3 and just one shot back now. Rahm has played an outrageous second shot, and has a 10ft putt for eagle. That'd be a decent way to start, I'd say... but before that happens, Scott misses his birdie putt and will have to settle for a par. Stays +3.

7th hole, Fred Couples for birdie... no idea if he made it because his caddy is standing right in the way. By the stroppy body language and slouched posture I'll assume he missed. He did indeed. Seventh straight par today for Couples, stays at level par. Only four shots back. KOOOOOOOOOOCH (getting bored of that yet) with a chip from off the back of the green at 3. Almost went in too, but just tailed off to the right. Should tap that in for a par to stay in the lead with Spieth. Rahm for eagle.... YEP!! Gets himself to +1, and will be looking to go on the charge now.

Mickelson for birdie on the 3rd.... to join the leaders.... to put a smile on his face... to make those at the course cheer... to make his backers watching at home jump up for joy..... Misses. Still -3.
