Paris-Roubaix 2018

Good morning ladies and gentlemen. @TimBonvilleGinn here and it is time! We're about to go into the very bowels of hell! The Hell of the North, Paris Roubaix. Just 1 min till we start this mythical race.

And we have started the neutralised zone. What will we see today. Zdenik Stybar is my big pick for today. Hopefully that won't curse him.

Quickstep have been hoovering up the wins, especially in the cobbled classics. Could The Wolfpack take Roubaix? It would be pretty epic if they do.

Wow it is a special day. I've just seen the new Alpecin advert with Marcel Kittel and co. It's as awful as I was expecting it to be.

So you may have realised that I am covering the race from start to finish! It's the third year I've done this now. Every time I get very excited for my favourite one day classic.

The sun is out as we leave Compiegne, pass the Armistice, which I have been to, and to the start, KM0 which we cross now!! 257km to go! We are racing!!

And immediately we see attacks, a rider from Fortuneo Samsic starting it off but that gets nowhere.

Interesting to see Tim De Clercq trying to get into the break for Quickstep. WB Aquaprotect send a rider away, it looks like it's possibly Alex Kirsch.

Vital Concept, Dimension Data and Delko Marseille send riders away but it's now all brought back with the WB rider just hanging off the front as we see Fortuneo and Dimension Data going again.

So we had a lot of talk about the wet and muddy cobbles. We half hoped for rain today, but once again the weather smiles on the riders here at Paris Roubaix. As we see Marc Soler trying to get into the break. That's quite a surprise. 247km to go as we're back in thick forest.
