Good evening everyone! Some Sunday evening Moto GP action for you as it’s Round Three of the Moto GP World Championship, from the Circuit of the Americas in Texas. @Ugster1 with you for it.

We get underway at 8pm UK time, so let’s have a quick recap. So far, the season has been all about Marc Marquez and his, shall we say, aggressive riding. In the first race from Qatar, he finished second after losing out in an epic battle with Andrea Dovizioso. Then in Argentina, his attempt to push past Rossi led to them both missing out on points.

Marquez has form in this area, of course, with a number of riders becoming more unimpressed with how close to the limit he rides. He does seem to step over that line more often than the other riders, although he would of course say he’s just being ultra competitive. But that doesn’t explain what happened in qualifying here...

Maverick Vinales was on his flying lap, and Marquez was on a non-quick lap - but right on the racing line. Ultimately, he paid for that with a three place grid penalty, and it’ll be Vinales that starts on pole.

We shouldn’t, of course, forget that Marquez is the prince of this circuit - always top in qualifying, always top when the race ends, so I’d expect him to be there or thereabouts in an hour or so.

It was, of course, a British success in Argentina as Cal Crutchlow won the race and leads the Championship. The top five in the standings at the early stage of the championship are as follows: 1. Crutchlow, 38 points 2. Dovizioso, 35 3. Zarco, 28 4. Vinales, 21 5. Marquez, 20

So, to today’s race. Let’s look at the grid, Vinales on pole: Vinales - Iannone - Zarco Marquez - Rossi - Lorenzo Crutchlow - Dovizioso - Pedrosa Petrucci - Rins - Nakagami Rabat - Smith - Espargaro (P) Syahrin - Morbidelli - Miller Espargaro (A) - Luthi - Bautista Redding - Abraham - Simeon

Warm up lap underway. Worth noting Dani Pedrosa - he comes in to this having injured his wrist in Argentina, he’s had surgery and a couple of screws, is in a lot of pain apparently and despite taking some drugs, may not make it through the race - we’ll see. Right, start imminent.

And we’re off!

A 20 lap race, and it’s Iannone that flies off the line and takes first. Marquez has come through into second place already, and indeed as I type moves into first. That grid penalty had no effect!
